God Heal Me

God Heal Me: People Jesus Healed

It was during a routine medical appointment a few short months before I turned 40 that the doctor discovered I had an irregular heartbeat. After undergoing lots of tests, the doctor recommended I undergo a heart procedure to correct it.

All I could utter in prayer through the fear and worry was “God heal me,” over and over.

God did heal me, though it wasn’t the way I wanted it to be. He healed me through that procedure.

God heals the sick. He can do that through others, such as doctors, and through medical interventions. But he can also do it unexpectedly one day, too.

If you have been praying for healing for a while now—for yourself, for a family member, or for a friend—and you are feeling hopeless, don’t give up. You can find encouragement and wisdom to help you to keep praying through stories of the people Jesus healed.

God heals; he can do it for you and for those you care about, too. Keep praying, trusting, and believing for a miracle.

Can God Heal Me?

God can heal me, and you too. The Bible shows you that Jesus can heal if it’s his will, as he has healed so many people.

How many people did Jesus heal? He healed many people and can do it for you also. He is the great healer.

You shouldn’t need to see “miraculous signs and wonders” to believe in Jesus and what he can do, as those in the book of John needed.

“So Jesus said to him, ‘Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.’” (John 4:48, ESV)

Put your trust in Jesus and have faith that whether he chooses to heal or not, whatever his will is for you is best.

If we allow him, he is always increasing our faith and trust for him, and growing us to be more like him. He can do that for you now in this trying time. He wants you to keep trusting him and believing for healing, because he can do it if it’s his will.

Will God Heal Me?

God can heal you but it doesn’t say anywhere in the Bible that it is guaranteed. He will do it if it’s his will.

This may sound discouraging if you have been praying for some time for healing, crying out “Jesus heal me.”

But you can find comfort in the fact that whatever his will is, he will always be with you and help you in whatever ways you need as you trust him and lean on him.

He will never leave you, nor forsake you, as he loves you so much. You are his beloved. You can find encouragement in the story of Lazarus, whom Jesus loved very much, when he was ill.

“But when Jesus heard it he said, ‘This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.’” (John 11:4, ESV)

Jesus did not guarantee that he was going to heal Lazarus by what he said here. He was rather ensuring the people that he would not be subject to death as are those who don’t believe.

Lazarus was guaranteed to be with Christ and to be resurrected, as we are too. We will be with Christ for eternity and we can look forward to that. We will have a new body.

Jesus allowed Lazarus to die from his illness and brought him back to life for the glory of God. That was the reason he did it. He can heal you for his glory, but whatever his will is, is best.

God loves you so much and hates that you or your loved one is ill. This was not the original design he had. If it’s his will that you stay with this illness, he will do great things through you, using this time for your good and that of others.

John 11:4

God Heal Me: People Jesus Healed

Jesus healed so many people in the Bible. Reading about more of these accounts can bring the encouragement you need to keep praying and trusting him—and to remind you that he can do it for you also if it’s his will.

Below you will find 3 accounts of people Jesus healed to encourage you to remember you should pray for healing.

1. The Healing of the Royal Official’s Child

Maybe you have a child that is sick and you have been praying that Jesus would heal him or her. This story of how Jesus healed the royal official’s child who was near death can encourage you.

This man knew that Jesus was his only hope for his child to be healed, as he knew of the great miracles Jesus did. Though he believed in Jesus as a healer, he didn’t as his Lord and Savior.

Jesus wanted him to have faith in him without seeing.

“Jesus said to him, ‘Go; your son will live.’ The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way.” (John 4:50, ESV)

Jesus was growing the man’s faith by asking him to do this. He had to trust and he chose to.

Jesus did heal his son as he said, even though the man didn’t see it when he wanted to.

“The father knew that was the hour when Jesus had said to him, ‘Your son will live.’ And he himself believed, and all his household.” (John 4:53, ESV)

This led him and those in his household to faith. This shows that God can heal your child if it’s his will.

Don’t give up praying and believing for a miracle. He can do it whether or not you are seeing anything happen in the moment.

Don’t think because you don’t see it that nothing is happening. Jesus can be doing it. Don’t give up.

2. The Healing of a Man Who Was Disabled

Maybe you or a family member has been ill for a long time and you are crying “God heal me, please” from this illness. Jesus can heal you no matter how long you have been sick.

One man in John 5:5 was in the condition of being disabled for 38 years. He was trying to find healing by going into a pool but couldn’t get in as he had no help.

“When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, ‘Do you want to be healed?’” (John 5:6, ESV)

This shows that you need to continue to pray, asking Christ, because he can do it. You shouldn’t just give up. Jesus healed this man.

“Jesus said to him, ‘Get up, take up your bed, and walk.’And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.” (John 5:8-9, ESV)

Jesus is the great healer and can do it for you no matter how long you have been enduring this illness. Keep praying and seeking him for direction, as he also heals through doctors, too.

John 5:8-9

3. The Healing of a Man Who Couldn’t See

Sometimes we think that we are sick because we deserve it for doing bad things, and that is why Jesus will not heal us; that is not true.

John 9:1 describes Jesus healing a man who couldn’t see from the time when he was born. The disciples asked if he was born this way due to sin.

“Jesus answered, ‘It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.’” (John 9:3, ESV)

God is in control. He has all authority. And in this case, he allowed this man’s blindness to bring glory to God, the Father. God’s power is seen here through his act of healing.

The disciples in John 9:4 are also here working with Jesus to do God’s work. We are disciples of Christ and called to do his work and as a result get to partake in the glory of God

This can stand as a reminder that his work can look like praying for others who are sick. Keep praying and don’t give up. You are doing the Lord’s work.

The disciples took part and saw this man healed.

“Having said these things, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man’s eyes with the mud and said to him, ‘Go, wash in the pool of Siloam’ (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing.” (John 9:6-7, ESV)

Keep doing the Lord’s work of prayer.

If you have been discouraged by praying “God heal me” and yet seeing nothing, you can find hope knowing that the answer to “can Jesus heal me?” is yes. God can heal you if it’s his will.

You can read accounts of people Jesus healed to remind you to keep praying and having hope in him. He is the great healer and can heal spontaneously one day or through doctors, medical interventions, etc.

Keep praying and believing. He is with you and whether it’s his will or not, he has good for you.
