The Key to Experiencing the Power of Jesus in Your Life

The Key to Experiencing the Power of Jesus in Your Life

Are you feeling hopeless in your current circumstances and yearning to experience the power of Jesus in your life? You can experience his power in your life in such ways as receiving healing or seeing that miracle that you need to happen so badly.

You can see him do the impossible for you in your current circumstances. God has shown you over and over that he is all powerful and can do all things if it’s his will.

This is in the Bible, seen through such stories as when Jesus healed a man who was born blind, when he turned water into wine, and when he came back from the dead.

All this was a witness to his power and you can experience the power of Christ to help you in your own life right now, too. The Bible shows you the key to experiencing it.

What Is the Power of Jesus?

The power of Jesus Christ is his ability to do things that are impossible and that no one else can do.

Nothing is beyond what he can do. Jesus is powerful and can do all things. The power of Jesus’ name can win battles in your life.

He is in control of all things and can do things that you never dreamed of happening in your life, if it is his will. His power is limitless and his reign is above it all.

The power of God in you is the Holy Spirit. He empowers you as a child of God to do the things the Lord asks you to do and commands you in his Word. His power in you helps you live well for Christ.

You don’t ever have to feel hopeless or in despair because his power is so great and nothing is beyond what he can do when you are his child. He can and will do it all when it’s his will.

The Power of God in the Bible

There are many examples of the power of God in the Bible. The power of God was seen in the story of the Israelites when they were slaves in Egypt and God brought forth the plagues to help Pharoah see his power and set them free. No one could do what God did, he saw.

“Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Say to Aaron, “Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the earth, so that it may become gnats in all the land of Egypt.”’ And they did so. Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff and struck the dust of the earth, and there were gnats on man and beast. All the dust of the earth became gnats in all the land of Egypt. The magicians tried by their secret arts to produce gnats, but they could not. So there were gnats on man and beast. Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, ‘This is the finger of God.’ But Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.” (Exodus 8:16-19, ESV)

They also saw his great power when he parted the Red Sea, giving them victory over the Egyptians.

“Thus the Lord saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.” (Exodus 14:30-31, ESV)

Exodus 14:30-31

How to Receive the Power of God

If you want to receive the power of Jesus in your life, the key to experiencing it is having faith. This is seen in how Jesus replies to Peter regarding the fig tree that withered.

“And Peter remembered and said to him, ‘Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered.’ And Jesus answered them, ‘Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be taken up and thrown into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.’” (Mark 11:21-23, ESV)

Jesus was teaching them about faith in God through what he did. That they will see his power if they possess faith. That through his power the unthinkable can occur and that they need to trust to allow things to happen if it is his will.

If you have faith in his power, what people can’t do Jesus can. Don’t have doubt but have faith as God is all powerful and can do it all; but he will only do things according to his will, as this is the best for you.

Faith needs to be had for miracles to take place. If you want to receive his power you need to have faith in him and faith that he can do all things. Faith is the key to experiencing it, and it’s all for his glory.

Power of Jesus

You can experience the power of Jesus by having faith and not doubting in your heart what he can do. He is all powerful and can do all things for you.

Jesus can heal you from the trauma you experienced in the past or from a physical illness; or he can allow that thing you’ve been waiting on for months to happen. He can do all things, even the impossible, if you have faith and if it is his will.

Jesus teaches you how to pray with faith to see his power. Prayer is how you communicate what you want to God and it shows him your faith to see the power of the Lord in your life.

Below, you will find his teaching on this so you can pray in this manner.

1. Pray for Whatever With Faith

Jesus wants you to be praying “whatever” with great faith in your heart; then, he says, you will get what you have requested.

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24, ESV)

This means whatever you are praying for, you need to believe it will happen. You can’t have doubt. Within this verse, though, you have to understand a few things about Jesus and how he goes about answering your prayers.

Jesus is by no means a genie in a lamp who grants you whatever wishes you want. He answers your prayers depending on whether something is his will. If it is his will, it will happen; if it is not, it won’t.

His will is best for you and you should always want it. He also answers what you are praying for according to his great purposes to move forward his kingdom.

Think about the Lord’s prayer. Think about how Jesus prayed when he was on earth, like in the Garden of Gethsemane. He was praying for the Father’s will to be done. These show us how to pray.

He always wanted the Lord’s kingdom to come on this earth. We are his servants and it’s not about us but only about him.

This should be our heart in prayer—focused on him, not on selfishness—so when we ask for “whatever,” it will not be self centered prayers but prayers that align with his heart and his will.

There is a bigger plan happening: God’s mission. We are a part of it, and we need to remember that.

We should lay down our lives completely to him for what he did for us on the cross. Our hearts should want to obey him completely and we need to pray from this place.

Praying for things in the Bible and what he says in it, you will see his power come forth to make it happen in your life. Remember all this when you pray in faith for “whatever.”

If you abide in Jesus, you will want what he wants and your heart will align as you pray in this way. Your faith in him will allow you to see “whatever” you pray for happen.

2. Forgiveness in Prayer

Jesus continues by telling you that you have to forgive. He has forgiven you, so you have to do the same with others. You shouldn’t be holding grudges against others but forgive them.

“And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25, ESV)

Having not forgiven someone is harmful to you and others in your life. It is not good in your relationship with Jesus, either.

You have to forgive people to get it from the Lord as it is the means to get answers on the things you are praying for in faith to happen. This is in the Lord’s prayer too. You don’t want anything blocking his power from coming forth in your life like unforgiveness does.

Mark 11:25

The key to experiencing the power of Jesus is having faith. God’s word shows us this. The power in Christ that comes forth in our lives can bring about miracles and things we never imagined could happen.

Jesus shows us this and shows us how we should pray in regard to having faith. It is asking freely for “whatever,” but your “whatever” will be things he wants when you abide in him. Pray with a heart that has forgiven others, as he has done for you. Jesus can do all things for you. Have faith.

  1. As usual, Nikki, you are spot on! I have been praying in faith, yet I also have experienced some discouragement over my daughter and granddaughter not speaking to me. They have never explained why. I have also been praying for more faith and trust that God will intervene at just the right time.

  2. Dear Nikki, yes!! I need you to pray for me that I will be able to celebrate the return of my daughter and granddaughter even before I realize it has happened! Thank you Nikki. I will remember you in prayer as well.
