10 Promises of God With Bible Verses

10 Promises of God With Bible Verses, For When You’re Disappointed

Have you ever been hurt by someone breaking their word to you? Close family members, friends… it can sometimes feel like you can’t expect anything from people anymore.

In these times of disappointment, God wants to reveal himself to you in a deeper way as you go to him and find solace in him. He wants to remind you that he is the great promise keeper.

These 10 promises of God with Bible verses can remind you of who he is and that you can expect much from him; that you can live with open hands, loving others despite being disappointed at times.

They can help you be more stirred in love for others and extend forgiveness as you see the deep, unrelenting love he has for you.

What Is the Greatest Promise in the Bible?

God is a promise keeper. You never have to question “does God keep his promises?” because he does.

“… in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,” (Titus 1:2, NIV)

I believe that God’s greatest promise to you lies in his greatest sacrifice for you: to show you how much he loves you.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV)

He gave his only son, Jesus, to die on the cross for you so that you can have eternal life. This promise of eternal life is not something you strive for or earn by doing good things. It’s a free gift when you give him your life, making him Lord and Savior over your life and in your heart.

He said he would rescue us and he kept his promise. That’s who he is. Through this covenant you have with him as his child, you can walk in freedom from sin if you choose to rely on him and ask his Holy Spirit to help you. His Holy Spirit will empower you.

This promise is multi-faceted—for today and for eternity—to live with him in freedom. You will not perish in this life by walking in sin anymore (because sin equals death) if you choose him. The promise of eternity, in relationship with him, is the greatest gift we can ever have.

10 Promises of God

What Are the Promises of God?

There are many Bible verses on God’s promises. They provide you with the gift of knowing that God sees you, will always take care of you, and has great plans for you. They let you see that you play a part in the bigger picture that he has for the world.

His promises are found throughout his word, and examples of God keeping his promises are found throughout the Bible, too. They’re also embedded in stories of biblical figures, such as God’s promise to us through the story of Noah, that he will never flood the earth again.

“‘I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.’ And God said, ‘This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come…’” (Genesis 9:11-12, NIV)

God’s promises will give you the comfort you need to know he has great purposes for you and help to keep going in hard times of disappointment.

10 Promises of God With Bible Verses

There are so many promises of God. These 10 promises of God with scripture remind you of who he is in times when you feel discouraged by disappointment. This list of the promises of God will help you know he is a promise keeper; you can always rely on him because God fulfills his promises.

1. God Will Guide Your Steps

If you put your trust in God and seek him for guidance, he promises to direct you.

“For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.” (Psalm 48:14, NIV)

God will not let you down. When you feel disappointed by others, know God will guide you in what to do.

2. God Will Rescue You

God is here for you—as his child he will rescue you.

“The Lord helps them and takes them out of trouble. He takes them away from the sinful, and saves them, because they go to Him for a safe place.” (Psalm 37:40, NLV)

When someone is wanting to harm you, or you are in trouble, seek him and he promises to be there for you to rescue you.

Psalm 37:40

3. God Is With You

God promises to be with you. He is with you in the good, the pain, and the heartbreaking tumultuous times when your circumstances make you feel like nothing will ever change. He has a plan and has gone before you to make a way.

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8, NIV)

Trust that he is with you.

4. God Hears You

God hears your prayers and values them because he loves you. He hears it all—your deep cries and the longings of your heart. Because he has the best for you, he will give you what is according to his will.

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” (1 John 5:14-15, NIV)

Know you are always heard by him and your tears are not unseen. Keep praying and know his will for you is best.

5. God Will Carry Your Concerns

God doesn’t want you weighed down by anything: worry, fear, stress, hurt from others, etc. He promises that, as his child, if you give it all to him he will take care of you. You will stand strong and can have peace.

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” (Psalm 55:22, NIV)

Give it all to him.

6. God Is Your Strength

God wants you to rely on his strength and not your own.

He promises to be our strength when we surrender to him, humbled, knowing we need him.

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:26, NIV)

Be dependent on him. When you feel disappointment and it’s hard to keep going, acknowledge your weaknesses. God is your strength.

7. God Will Always Provide

When you feel you are in need, know he is the great provider. He promises to do that when you lean on him.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19, NIV)

He will meet every need in the disappointment: comfort, refuge, peace, etc. Trust he will provide, even when things seem impossible.

Philippians 4:19

8. God Has Given You Authority

When you feel beaten down by the way people have disappointed you, remember that Jesus has given you all authority over the lies you’re believing in your mind. Those are the work of the enemy.

“Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.” (Luke 10:19, NLT)

This promise allows you to know that the victory is always yours. The enemy has no power over you unless you give it to him.

9. God Has Given You Peace

In hard times, when things feel so rattled, he has given you the gift of peace to hold on to.

“‘Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” (Isaiah 54:10, NIV)

Remember this, and rest in him for peace, because this is promised to you. His peace is always available when you trust him and give it all to him.

10. God Has Given You the Ability to Persevere

When you feel like you want to give up—when loving others feels hard because people have disappointed you—remind yourself that God promises you will reap if you keep persevering.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  (Galatians 6:9, NIV)

Take it one day at a time, reminding yourself of his promise as you do your part. You can keep doing good and doing the things he is calling you to.

This promises of God Bible verses list will remind you that God is a promise keeper. Remember these 10 promises of God with Bible verses when you feel disappointed… and be encouraged by who he is. Loving God means you know him, and that he always keeps his promises.
