Spiritual Warfare Verses for Victory in Christ

In the midst of spiritual warfare, feeling victorious in Christ can feel so out of reach. It’s so hard when you keep hearing the lies of the enemy in your mind and your efforts feel like they aren’t working. His victory can even feel like a lie, or unattainable, even though God’s word says it’s true.

I know I have felt this way; if you have too, you are not alone. You do have victory in Christ and need to learn how to obtain it; knowing and memorizing spiritual warfare verses in the Bible will allow you to have victory through his truth.

This can shift the battle in your mind, allowing you to put on the armor of God confidently and stand in the victory you have.

Spiritual Warfare in the Bible

Spiritual warfare in the Bible is clearly evident. Jesus experienced it in the wilderness when he had fasted for a significant length of time.

“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.” (Matthew 4:1-2, NIV)

Jesus shows you what to do—despite feeling weak in the flesh, your strength comes from God. You need to rely on it.

He used truth from the word of God to defeat the enemy. He can’t stand against the truth. You, too, need to know this with confidence.

When you are most vulnerable and drawing closer to God, Satan dislikes it… and spiritual warfare can be at an all time high.

Jesus experienced that, and showed you how to have victory. He demonstrated the power of the word as a weapon (the sword in the armor of God) and how to use it. This assures that you will stand in victory, so long as you know how to stand in it and claim it.

Reasons for Spiritual Warfare

There are many reasons for spiritual warfare:

  • When your deep desire is to walk in God’s purposes, to know him more, and you are actively pursuing him… the enemy will try to stop you.
  • When you have said yes to something God is calling you to do, Satan hates your obedience to Christ.
  • When you deny yourself and actively seek to lay down your life for others and love radically, he will try to stop you.

Fear, insecurity, doubt, delay—he uses lots of tactics to prey on the areas he knows you have struggled with. He doesn’t want you to know your true identity in Christ, so he tries to convince you that you’re something else… leading you towards walking in sin. He doesn’t want you to walk confidently in the spiritual gifts God has given you, or in those roles he’s set out.

Breaking free of hurt and pain, and finding healing from past or present wounds, forgiving others, will allow you to draw closer to Jesus and give him more of your heart—this would be the time the enemy would want to attack you.

He wants to take you as far away from Jesus as possible, and he will do anything. He wants you to worship him and stay in pride, thinking that you can do it all and don’t need Jesus.

Know how he attacks; fight him in order to draw closer to Jesus. Stand strong in the fact that you have victory in Christ by memorizing these fighting spiritual warfare scriptures.

Spiritual Warfare Verses for Victory in Christ

Spiritual warfare scriptures to know your victory in Christ are so important to memorize. They can make the difference in whether you give up or not in whatever God is calling you to do.

Each and every little step God calls you to is important—the enemy wants to stop you. The little steps lead to big things for heart transformation and growth in him, so having victory in them is crucial.

Wrapping your mind around the truth that you have victory in Christ is the first step to walking in it; the armor of God will provide protection and defense.

These 10 spiritual warfare verses in the Bible can provide encouragement. They will help give you the right perspective of knowing Christ’s power, allowing you to walk in the victory you have in him to win the battle.

1. Jesus Will Deliver You

When it seems like fear, worry, anxiety, depression, or doubt have overcome you, know Jesus will deliver you from these attacks of the enemy when you seek and call to him for help.

“… my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—from violent people you save me.
‘I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and have been saved from my enemies.’” (2 Samuel 22:3-4, NIV)

There is no attack that he can’t handle or rescue you from. Know who he is for victory.

2. No Attack Is Too Big for Jesus

There is no attack that Jesus can’t give you victory over, so you don’t have to fear.

“Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident.” (Psalm 27:3, NLT)

Knowing this truth can allow you to stand assured in him and not have any fear. Jesus is almighty and powerful; with him, your heart can be at peace. Stand strong and know that no attack is too big for him.

Psalm 27:3

3. Nothing Can Separate You From Jesus

When you are feeling so overcome by spiritual warfare, remember that nothing can separate you from his love.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” (Romans 8:35, NIV)

You are not distant from him, even if it sometimes feels that way. He is near to you, hearing your prayers, and is rooting you deeper in him. There is a new foundation solely in him being poured… and you are becoming stronger in him as you persist. This is his love; it is always there with you.

4. Jesus Will Protect You

When you feel overtaken by spiritual warfare, remember these spiritual warfare scriptures for protection:

“The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.” (Psalm 121:7-8, NLT)

He will protect you from the enemy, so you don’t have to feel overwhelmed or defeated. He knows it all and has gone before you.

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8, NIV)

Trust Jesus; know this is who he is. He will not let you be defeated when you call out to him and rely on him.

5. Through Jesus the Enemy Will Not Win

As a child of God, no spiritual attack formed against you will win if you stand with him.

“‘… no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,’ declares the Lord.” (Isaiah 54:17, NIV)

Don’t fret—know that as you use these weapons of spiritual warfare scriptures against the enemy, you have won because you stand in the truth.

Isaiah 54:17

6. Jesus Is With You

You can feel so alone in the midst of a spiritual attack, but you aren’t. God is with you.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10, NIV)

He will provide the strength, courage and truth to prevail. You have to remember that he is with you and is on your side to win. He wants you standing in his victory, knowing that he is with you.

7. You Have the Authority

Don’t feel powerless—Jesus has given you authority over the evil one.

“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” (Luke 10:19, NIV)

Remember that you hold the power to win and that you are not defenseless. Stand in the authority he has given you without fear, worry, or any concern.

8. Jesus Is Faithful

Jesus is so faithful. When you call out to him and seek him, he will deliver you from the attacks against you.

“But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3, NIV)

Know this is who he is and remember that his faithfulness never ends. Rely on him and turn to him. He will come through for you, without any doubt.

2 Thessalonians 3:3

9. Jesus’s Strength Is Mightier

When the enemy is waging a war against you, remember that Jesus is stronger. His Holy Spirit is within you, always present, and is all powerful.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,” (Psalm 46:1-2, NIV)

When it seems impossible, don’t fret: God’s got it. Satan is not stronger and can’t stand against the power of Jesus. Stand in his power and strength, not your own. Surrender and humble yourself.

10. Jesus Keeps His Promises

Jesus is a promise keeper. This means that what the word says to help you stand strong against spiritual warfare is true and you should use it.

You should remain firm in the battle when the enemy is trying to tempt you to sin. It’s worth it to be free of sin and live for Jesus. His promises of what is to come are so much more satisfying than anything the world can offer.

“Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.” (2 Corinthians 7:1, NIV)

The battle is hard but it’s worth fighting it to live for Jesus. It’s the best life. Keep that in mind as you fight: he is a promise keeper and his promises are so much better.

Memorize and meditate on these spiritual warfare verses for victory in Christ. These scriptures will remind you who Jesus is, and show you his power. With him, the enemy can’t win… you are victorious with Jesus.
