Are you consumed by worry because you are struggling financially? Maybe this is because you lost your job or had unexpected expenses come up.
Whatever the reason is, when you know what Jesus said about worry you can have peace instead of worrying. He will take care of you, his child, during this hard time.
He is with you and will not forsake you. He will work it all out, according to his purposes. He loves you so much.
Jesus and Worry
Worrying is no good. Nothing good comes out of it and it causes you to feel sad and depressed. Therefore, Jesus says don’t worry.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” (Matthew 6:25, NIV)
You can choose to do this by plainly just choosing to place your trust in Jesus to provide for your needs, because he says he will. He is a promise keeper.
In this verse he is speaking to you: who follow him, who put him first in your life, who are his servant, who are completely devoted to him. He will take care of you so you don’t have to worry.
Jesus is setting up a comparison by saying that not only will he handle the big things—such as your life and your body—but he’ll also provide for the smaller details, like food and clothing.
If he cares that much about you, you don’t have to worry about the bigger or smaller things in your life that seem like they’re out of your hands. Because they’re always in his hands. Give them to him.
God created you; you can trust him to provide for you.
Instead of worrying in this hard time, ask yourself: “Did Jesus worry?” No, he didn’t. He just trusted God in it all and had peace. You can too.
Be like Christ and choose to just say “I trust you Jesus,” no matter what is happening. You can recall this verse to trust instead of worrying.

How to Stop Worrying and Start Trusting God
Jesus’ teaching on worry tells us not to do it—to trust him instead—but that is not always easy.
You can do it when you remember he cares for you so much that he will provide for you. He tells you how he provides for the needs of the birds, caring for them; you can know he will do the same and even more for you. They trust him and so can you. He created us all.
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26, NIV)
You can’t overlook the fact that he will do the same for you because of “how much more valuable” you are to him. He loves you so much. He died for you on the cross.
He will meet all your needs so you don’t have to worry. You have to just plainly choose to trust him, give him your worries, and remember his heart for you to know how to overcome worry biblically and get through this hard time.
Remember this: trust him. This is the key. Focus on Jesus instead of being anxious, and in this way you can find peace.
What Jesus Said About Worry
Jesus doesn’t stop his teaching on worry here in these two Bibles verses. He goes on to share more of what you can do to not worry and the reasons you don’t have to either.
He will meet your needs at this hard time so you don’t have to worry. This is what Jesus said about worry.
Below, you will find 3 actions you can take to not worry and find peace.
1. Trust Jesus Knows Your Needs
Jesus knows what you need and you can trust that. You don’t have to be like those who don’t believe.
“For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.” (Matthew 6:32, NIV)
You don’t have to “run after all these things,” meaning possessions that you need; instead, you can trust that Jesus will provide for you because you are his child. He knows what you need even before you ask. You can trust that.
Don’t overthink about your needs or be completely preoccupied in your mind with them. You can have faith and trust him instead.
You don’t need to figure it out on your own; he will take care of you. Just keep praying, trusting, and having faith.
2. Prioritize Jesus First
Instead of worrying during this time about your needs, place God first.
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33, NIV)
His provision is so great and you can trust him to give you so much because he cares for you, so you can put him ahead of yourself.
You need to be about the kingdom and not about going after earthly things. You need to live seeking Jesus’s will in your life and your actions need to be walking in his righteousness: meaning trying to do the right thing.
This is living according to what he says in the Bible.
What did Jesus say about worry? He said “seek first his kingdom”; him first, what he wants, and walk in righteousness. Then you don’t have to worry, as he will take care of it all for you.
His provision is seen in many ways. Just trust him to provide. He will. You can have peace.
3. Focus On Today
Another point made by Jesus on anxiety is to just focus on today and not tomorrow.
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:34, NIV)
You need to be present today and let Jesus take care of tomorrow. That’s why you don’t need to worry. He has got tomorrow in his hands.
Worrying for the future does no good since you can’t control what will take place. Take it one day at a time, trusting God in this day and for the future, not worrying.
What does Jesus say about anxiety? He says that instead of worrying, you should trust him because he cares for you so much.
You can find encouragement in thinking about the answer to this question: “Did Jesus have anxiety?” The answer is no, because he trusted the Father and you can choose to do the same.
What Jesus said about worry includes you trusting Jesus knows your needs, prioritizing Jesus first, and focusing on today. He has got you and will provide for you in this hard time. Knowing this gives you peace.
